About the role

 

In this role, you will provide administrative and project management support to the NSW team, helping to ensure timely delivery of projects on budget and managing relationships with fieldwork suppliers. You will also contribute to proposal development as we pitch for new work, produce first drafts of simple research tools, and contribute to analysis and reporting of research findings. You will be part of a supportive team that will mentor and upskill you in all aspects of research and evaluation.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Winning work

  • Supports senior staff in the development of outstanding proposals.
  • Contributing to project design as part of the brainstorm.
  • Responsible for preparing project background, project timelines, preparation of experience and team section and standard tender schedules.
  • Responsible for seeking competitive quotes from suppliers and preparing a first draft pricing sheet.

 

Managing projects

  • Responsible for monitoring team against project schedule, ensuring ISO and quality standards and procedures are being followed and that work is compliant with applicable industry standards and social research guidelines.
  • Manages project setup and administration in business systems, including creating and maintaining project details, managing access permissions, and overseeing invoicing workflows.
  • Monitors project budgets, actively looks for ways to minimise costs, and manages some financial administration including purchase order generation and cost sheet maintenance as required.
  • Keeps clients and Project Lead informed of the project’s progress against schedule.
  • Manages suppliers throughout project.
  • Manages scheduling and bookings for qualitative fieldwork.
  • Manages progress of quantitative fieldwork, ensures it remains on schedule and quotas are achieved.
  • Supports Project Lead as appropriate with development of recruitment scripts, questionnaire and/or discussion guides as well as assistance with interviews as needed.

 

Analysis and reporting

  • Contributing to knowledge audits / literature reviews.
  • Provides preliminary analysis and conclusions.
  • Develops and contributes to storytelling plan and report content while identifying opportunities for automation and template-based outsourcing of charting for quantitative data.
  • Able to support Project Lead in creating a concise and engaging report/presentation demonstrating insight against client objectives.
  • Ensures accuracy and quality control in data extraction and presentation, including precise transfer of information from source data to client deliverables.
  • Follows Verian reporting protocols and branding protocols.

 

Managing client relationships

  • May liaise with clients on day-to-day project matters and handle simple client enquiries, with level of engagement varying based on project scope and strategic importance as appropriate and as determined by Project Lead or other relevant senior team member.
  • Actively manages client’s expectations and implications regarding costs, timing, etc.

 

About You

 

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications
  • 0-1 year experience in the research and consulting industry (grad/entry level), or relevant public service position
  • Understands and can interpret qualitative and quantitative data
  • Experience using Q or SPSS, and understanding of statistical significance and how to calculate and apply it, highly desirable
  • A clear and confident communicator—both written and verbal
  • Passionate about social impact, behaviour change, and public policy
  • Organised and highly detail-oriented, with a knack for juggling multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Positive and proactive – you’ll jump at opportunities to help or to learn something new.
  • Creative and solution-focused, always ready to bring fresh ideas to the table
