Behavioural & Communications Research

Verian - London

Verian works with clients around the world, providing evidence, insights and advisory services to inspire the next generation of public policy and programmes. We work at the intersection of data, technology, and human understanding. With permanent fully staffed offices in 17 countries, our 850 specialist consultants and researchers advise government departments, regulators, charities, and other public sector bodies to make the right decisions and improve people’s lives.

We are now looking for a Senior Research Executive to join our Behavioural and Communications Practice. In this role, you will support on projects, work with internal operational teams and clients to build lasting relationships, and contribute to delivering work across our sector-leading government communications development and evaluation offer.

Within the Behavioural and Communications Practice, we advise clients on the opportunities for behaviour change at all stages in the policy cycle and work on some of society's most pressing issues: providing insight into what influences behaviour; designing communications, interventions and strategies for inspiring change; and trialing and evaluating campaigns and interventions. We help our clients to design communications that engage with people on a range of complex and/or sensitive topics and have evaluated many of the government’s flagship campaigns, ranging from campaigns to improve road safety, improve health, reduce the strain on the NHS, practise environmentally-friendly behaviours, and consider public sector employment, among others. We mix classical methods with innovation to provide custom solutions for our clients. Our work is always interesting; it often involves sensitive issues and it makes a real difference to the world we live in!

Your responsibilities

  • Act as a key contact for clients
  • Manage and deliver multiple quantitative communications evaluation projects concurrently, ensuring efficient, profitable, high-quality delivery
  • Contribute to other types of projects – e.g. qualitative or experimental research, customer insight trackers
  • Design high-quality questionnaires and other research materials
  • Contribute to reporting and presentations for varied senior audiences
  • Develop, over time, an area of specialist expertise (e.g. a policy area within our portfolio, a particular methodology, a contribution to innovation)

Your Profile

  • Well-rounded quantitative or mixed method researcher
  • Previous experience in a social or market research agency role
  • Proven project management and research experience – strong project handling skills and an ability to deliver quality work to time and budget
  • Interested in Government communications and behaviour change work – some experience in Government social research would be ideal but is not required
  • Able to respond quickly and work at pace when required, to multi-task and get the job done, with strong time management skills
  • Adept at generating insight deliverables – from email summaries to contributing to full decks and reports
  • Excellent attention to detail, and verbal and written communication skills – preparing engaging, authoritative and insightful presentations and reports
  • A real team player – interested in working with others to do great things and eager to learn from others in the team and support junior staff in their development journey

We will review your application as soon as possible. If your profile and experience fit our requirements, we will invite you for a first exploratory interview.
