About the Role

 

Policy and programme evaluation is one of the fastest expanding areas in social research today. There is an increasing focus within the UK government on more and better evaluation. As one of the top providers of evaluations to the UK government, Verian has a wide portfolio of evaluation studies covering policy areas such as housing, energy, net zero, crime, and education.

 

We are looking for a Senior Research Executive to join our net zero, energy and environment hub. Key areas of focus for the hub include the decarbonisation of buildings (e.g. our evaluation of the £4 billion Energy Company Obligation), climate adaptation (e.g. current research on public attitudes and behaviours to climate adaptation), the energy sector (e.g. previous research for the nuclear sector), net zero technologies, and sector decarbonisation.

 

You will be working on high quality, mixed-methods evaluations to deliver robust, impactful and actionable outputs to clients.

What You’ll Do

 

  •  Managing and delivering strands of high-quality large-scale evaluation projects in the net zero, energy & environment policy area
  • Liaising with clients to provide progress updates on your areas of project responsibility   
  • Interpreting and synthesising evidence across multiple sources (e.g. programme documentation, literature review, administrative data, survey data, qualitative research) to tell the story of your research and deliver sound evaluative judgements and actionable policy recommendations 
  • Actively engaging with project budgets, to ensure work is delivered to time and budget

What You’ll Bring

  • Interest and/or experience working in the net zero, energy, and environment policy domains
  • Experience delivering evaluation projects (process and/or impact and/or economic) 
  • Experience designing and managing primary research (quantitative surveys and qualitative fieldwork) 
  • Highly organised with a track record in delivering projects to quality, timetable and within budget 
  • Strong writing skills, PowerPoint design capabilities, and verbal presentation skills
