About the Role

Policy and programme evaluation is one of the fastest expanding areas in social research today. There is an increasing focus within the UK government on more and better evaluation. As one of the top providers of evaluations to the UK government, Verian has a wide portfolio of evaluation studies covering areas such as housing, energy, climate change, crime, and education.

We are looking for a Research Manager to grow and build a career in the evaluation of transport and infrastructure projects. This is a growing area of work for Verian, reflecting national priorities and growing recognition of an historic lack of robust evaluation of major infrastructure projects.

You will be working on high quality, mixed-methods evaluations to deliver robust, impactful and actionable outputs to clients. As our clients’ main day-to-day contact with Verian, you will be responsible for building our brand and reputation with clients.  You will also have the chance to build your networks, through work with specialist partners from academia and other research organisations.

What You’ll Bring

• Experience in managing evaluation projects (process and/or impact and/or economic) 
• Experience in designing and managing primary research (quantitative surveys and qualitative fieldwork) 
• Interest and/or experience in transport and infrastructure policies and programmes 
• Familiarity with Green Book, Magenta Book and TAG best practice and appraisal and evaluation of transport schemes
• Highly organised with strong project management skills, and track record in delivering projects to quality, timetable and within budget 
• Strong client handling skills 
• Strong writing skills and PowerPoint design capabilities 
• Strong delivery/verbal presentation to clients 
• Desire to support and drive forward business development
