About Verian

Verian is a world-leading, independent research, evidence, evaluation, and communications agency, providing services to government and the public realm. We work with our clients to help solve the next generation of public policy challenges. We are experts in public policy, service design, behavioural insight and election research.

Employing over 800 people globally, our Brussels team includes more than 50 specialist researchers and evaluators who work closely with colleagues across Europe. We deliver evidence for decision-making and offer expert advice on public opinion, international statistics, behavioural research, and public policy design and evaluation.

Our clients include national and local governments, EU institutions, the World Bank, and the United Nations. In Brussels, our Policy Research and Evaluation team has built a strong portfolio in areas such as disinformation, digital and social policy, consumer protection, youth, education and training, humanitarian aid, environmental behaviours, and public health.

Our Policy Implementation Hub bridges the gap between ideas (policies, strategies, roadmaps) and reality on the ground (implementation) to deliver tangible results. Policy implementation has become a growing priority for the European Commission and its Agencies, ensuring that EU outcomes matter. Our work strengthens EU governance, fosters cross-border collaboration, and directly impacts citizens, businesses, and policymakers.

We are expanding and are now looking for a Research Executive to join our Policy Implementation Hub. This is a unique opportunity for someone passionate about turning public policies and programmes into practical, meaningful change.

The Role

As a Research Executive, you’ll be part of a dynamic team working to bring EU policies to life. You’ll contribute to impactful, high-profile projects across a wide range of policy areas. You’ll work alongside experts in research, evaluation, policy design, behavioural science, and communications, helping to shape and implement EU initiatives that make a difference.

Reporting to the Project Manager, you’ll support project delivery across multiple initiatives, from design to implementation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the organisation and support of related project activities, such as working groups, secretariats, helpdesks, advisory services, communities of practice, and expert networks. This involves conceptualising and organising engaging events – from crafting agendas and coordinating logistics, to facilitating on the day, and reporting afterwards. These events could be face-to-face, online, or hybrid.
  • Research, analyse, and produce policy content in different forms. This could range from in-depth thematic and analytical papers to compelling case studies, good practice fiches, mapping exercises, comparative analyses, and conducting monitoring and evaluation surveys and stakeholder interviews.
  • Contribute to our proposal development process, including drafting sections of technical offers and identifying and coordinating with relevant experts.
  • Prepare clear, concise, impactful reports, presentations, and other written deliverables for a wide array of audiences, from technical annual reports to engaging website content.
  • Provide essential support for client and project management, ensuring smooth operations and raising any changes or challenges to the team or client.
  • Undertake other varied consultancy tasks as required, embracing the dynamic nature of our work.

Your Profile

  • A Master’s degree in Political Sciences, Social Sciences, Economics or European Affairs and a keen curiosity in public policies
  • An analytical mind and have good writing skills
  • Prior experience with policy implementation
  • Experience in events’ organisation and facilitation
  • Strong organisational and coordination skills, including time management and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in English. The command of other EU languages is a strong advantage.
  • Energy, enthusiasm, and motivation

  • Open-mindedness and cultural sensitivity in a multicultural environment.
  • A team player and client satisfaction is important to you
  • Proactive and a forward looking problem solver, demonstrating ownership of tasks
  • Used to multitasking and detail-oriented
