Based in the heart of Brussels, Verian is one of the leading policy and social research consultancies in the EU market. The Brussels team is around 60 researchers and consultants. We provide research evidence and consultancy to help EU institutions and other international organisations to make evidence-based decisions. Our teams combine specialised methodological expertise with expertise in communications, behavioural sciences, evaluation approaches as well as thematic understanding of different policy areas. Our team has a strong and established track record in the field of digital policies.
Verian global clients span all continents and include both national and local governments and supra-national organisations such as World bank, UN and the European Institutions.
Due to business growth, we are looking for Director – Policy Research and Evaluation to join our team. In our growing team you will develop our portfolio of studies, impact assessments and evaluations towards EU institutions in the field of digital policy and related areas. You will lead business development as well as the delivery of work from design of methodologies to reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading and supervising research projects - acting as key contact for clients, facilitating workshops, being accountable for timings and budgets, maintaining quality in analysis and reporting
- Building and sustaining positive client relationships
- Generating new business and writing good tenders. Leading proposals, developing new client relationships, planning and contributing to profile-raising activities
- Developing relations with key clients to ensure satisfaction and optimal value from both their and our points of view
- Contributing to team planning and strategy, and skills and capability development
- Working with other experts to develop our offer by drawing on advanced knowledge and skills, creating new solutions, and training the team.
- Line managing members of the team and supporting their work and development
Your Profile
- You have a minimum of 8/9 years’ experience in policy research for EU institutions (evaluations, impact assessments, policy studies). You have been (co-)leading in all aspects of research design from development of approaches and methods, through team coordination and client management to reporting
- Experience in providing evidence at different stages of the policy cycle: from problem analysis and diagnosis, through development of strategies and interventions to their evaluation
- Proven project oversight experience, with strong client handling skills and an ability to lead a research team to deliver excellent work to time and budget
- Experience of working with EU institutions and winning work through tenders for EU institutions is required
- You have strong understanding of EU’s digital policy priorities and interventions. This is backed with hands on experience in working in this field

- You are proficient in English. The command of other EU languages is an advantage.
